Discover the rich history of Istanbul with our "Land Walls, Tekfur Palace Museum & Anemas Dungeons Tour." This full-day journey offers an in-depth exploration of the city's ancient fortifications, palaces, and dungeons, providing a fascinating glimpse into Istanbul’s past.
The tour begins with a visit to the Yedikule Fortress, a historic stronghold that once protected the city’s southern perimeter. Explore the fortress's impressive walls and towers, and learn about its role in the city's history. We then continue to the Belgrade Gate, Mevlana Gate, Topkapi Gate, and Edirne Gate, each an integral part of the city’s ancient defenses, reflecting the architectural and strategic prowess of the Byzantine era.
After a delightful lunch, we proceed to the Tekfur Palace Museum, the remnants of a grand Byzantine palace known for its beautiful mosaics and architectural significance. This museum provides insights into the opulence and complexity of Byzantine imperial life.
The tour concludes with a visit to the Anemas Dungeons, an ancient prison complex known for its imposing underground chambers. These dungeons offer a stark contrast to the grandeur of the Tekfur Palace, highlighting the diverse uses of these historic structures throughout Istanbul's history.
