Next, we venture into the Atatürk City Forest, where you’ll witness the outcomes of extensive ecological restoration projects. This forest, now a thriving urban green space, showcases the successful integration of natural and urban ecosystems, offering a peaceful retreat within the city’s boundaries.
Büyükdere Atatürk Nursery: Established in the early 20th century, this nursery was named in honor of Mustafa Kemal Atatürk, the founder of the Republic of Turkey, who emphasized the importance of forestry and reforestation in building a modern nation. The nursery has been pivotal in supplying trees and plants for Istanbul’s urban greening efforts. Recent ecological restoration work has further enhanced its value as a vital green space.
Atatürk City Forest: A key urban forest in Istanbul, this area has undergone significant restoration to create a sustainable environment that balances urban needs with natural preservation. It serves as an essential ecological zone, offering recreation and a natural escape for city dwellers.
